kayley’s auction update

we went to see the plaque tonight at morning light, for the donations raised in memory of kayley with the "for you" series. it made less sense than ever, that this was there and she wasn't. though I could sense her there. or at least the love she left behind. forever grateful for you all.

it was incredible to see the work they did there. they've helped a 1000 people without the means to pass away comfortably and peacefully do that. they have a brick for everyone who's passed there. so they wouldn't be forgotten as many don't have family or friends to help remember them.

it felt like an old family house. with small gardens and bird feeders. and other things that helped folks realize that though they are transitioning from life, they still deserve to have memories and happiness for as long as they're here.

it was tough as fuck in other ways. confronted with it all. shit that I routinely bury to keep going another day. I guess we all do. it helped in the end though. the effort and having you all to grieve with. and hearing so many stories of folks who have gone through similar things.

tried to hold it together where I could. sometimes that didn't work. but it felt surreal to see what we all did realized. the staff was grateful beyond comprehension and absolutely shocked at the generosity, I am too. it's something I'll never forget what you all did. forever for you. kayley.

we named it “kayley's court” because she was the biggest fucking pacers fan ever.

it's not something that we think about a lot. but the prospect of not having the means to pass away in peace and with dignity is something every person should have. if you’re interested in making a donation to morning light, you can do so here.
